Biography

Born on April 12, 1968 in Huntington, Long Island, Alicia Coppola is a New York University alumna who graduated in 1990. She began her television career as a host on MTV’s Remote Control, and moved in to play the antagonist Lorna Devon on the soap opera Another World in 1991. For a year, she worked on Trinity, and moved on to appear in the American remake of the British comedy, Cold Feet in 1999. In 2000, she worked on the TNT drama, Bull, as Marissa Rufo. For Star Trek: Voyager’s pilot, she played Lt. Stadi. Alicia Coppola is not related to Francis Ford Coppola of the Godfather trilogy, but is related to Matthew Coppola and Denise Di Novi, who are both producers.

In talking about her inspiration in her line of work, the actress said, “My father was my inspiration. He had always dabbled in modeling and acting during my childhood. His greatest dream was to have a contract role on a Soap Opera. He was diagnosed with brain cancer when I was twelve and although he was able to continue acting and modeling a bit, he was never really able to achieve his dream. After I graduated from NYU, he died. A few months after his death, I booked the role of Lorna on Another World. I felt I was living my father’s dream for him. I also feel that my father taught me how to persevere…how to go after what you want in life, as one only has one life. It is OK. No, it is wonderful and important to dream… I have always felt that an artists’ path is chosen for them: I wanted to be a lawyer, but my father obviously had different plans for me. As always, he knew what was best for me. I am very happy with my career. I think my father would be very proud.”

Her other television credits include The Lazarus Man, The Burning Zone, Chicago Hope, The Sentinel, Pensacola: Wings of Gold, Profiler, Any Day Now, CSI, Ally McBeal, Dawson’s Creek, The Dead Zone, JAG, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Judging Amy, Miracles, American Dreams, The Division, Monk, Las Vegas, Huff, Two and a Half Men, Jake in Progress, Navy NCIS, Blind Justice, Medium, CSI: NY, Crossing Jordan, Bones and Jericho. She has also been seen on films like the blockbuster National Treasure: Book of Secrets as FBI Agent Spellman.
