Assistant Director Linda Barnes may have split up the team, but that won't be enough to keep them from working together in Criminal Minds season 13 episode 16. "Last Gasp" sees them meeting in secret to investigate an UnSub who appears to be kidnapping and photographing young women.

Check out a sneak peek of Garcia's new job:

There are at least a couple of changes Garcia will have to adjust to with her new job. As Cybercrimes Unit Chief Gary Omri tells her, she can only have three personal items on her desk, so she has to "get rid of all that junk."

He's already sent her a new case. A man was arrested and charged with 53 counts of identity theft, and it's up to her to go through his hard drives and pull any evidence that may support the charges.

As for the case she closed yesterday, since the suspects she identified are all Russian nationals living in Russia and the U.S. doesn't have an extradition treaty with Russia, all they can do is shut down the operation. Yes, they could just start another one, so the FBI has to be vigilant. "Wait, so this whole place is like a giant game of Whack-a-Mole?" Garcia asks. "The game where they have the mole, but it's a case, not a mole?"

The team meets in secret in this clip:

They may have been told not to investigate this case, and by doing so, will be violating direct orders, but that's not going to stop the team. Prentiss warns everyone that eventually, Barnes will find out and if something goes wrong or they don't catch the UnSub, she'll shut down the BAU and fire all of them.

The same thing could happen even if everything goes right and they catch the UnSub. Barnes could label the BAU a rogue unit that needs to be shut down. So, does anyone have any doubts? "The BAU started in a room just like this one," Rossi remarks. "If this is how it goes out, so be it."

They're all in, so it's time to get to work.

How long do you think it will take for Barnes to find out what they're doing?
