A lot of speculation and drama accompanied Maksim Chmerkovskiy suddenly sitting out Dancing with the Stars for "personal reasons." The most popular rumor, as was previously reported, is that there were some intense personal issues between Maks and his DWTS partner Vanessa Lachey and that the two "can't stand each other." While neither Maks and Vanessa have addressed the rumors directly, Us Weekly, which originally broke the story, reports that Maks is trying to make amends.

If there was a feud between Maks and Vanessa the two are reportedly trying to move past it. A source told Us Weekly that it's "water under the bridge" now. Maks has made it clear that he holds no ill will towards Vanessa. After publicly apologizing to her on his Twitter feed, Maks wrote a long note to Vanessa on his Instagram account on Tuesday.

Maks starts the message by writing, "Everything I ever want for my partners is literally what @vanessalachey has brought to the dance floor last night." Maks is referring to the Most Memorable Year dance that Vanessa and he performed together that was dedicated to Vanessa's youngest son, Phoenix, who was born premature.

As Maks and Vanessa explained on Dancing with the Stars, bonding over their newborns is part of what brought them together during Most Memorable Year week. As Dancing with the Stars fans probably know Maks recently had a baby boy, Shai, with new wife (and fellow Dancing with the Stars professional) Peta Murgatroyd. Similar to Phoenix, Shai had to be briefly hospitalized shortly after he was born.

Beyond their baby bond though, Maks expressed more gratitude for being paired with Vanessa in his Instagram post. "I'm proud of you partner! They can say what they want but you're a star and I wouldn't want to be on this rollercoaster with anyone but you," he wrote getting as close as he has to addressing those rumors. "And we have so many more of these moments to share with each other, and everyone else who couldn't stop their tears..."

All of the Most Memorable Year dances had more than a touch of real and heart-heavy emotion behind them. Maks and Vanessa's rumba was still one of the more emotional and tear-jerking routines as Vanessa and her husband / DWTS competitor were both reduced to tears afterwards.

It turns out though that those tears have brought Maks and Vanessa closer together, regardless if they were actually fighting before the dance.

Do you think Vanessa and Maks are just putting on a good face though? Do you think they were ever really fighting? Are you glad that they at least appear to be getting along?
