Grey's Anatomy is no stranger to big tragedies. There was the ferry boat crash and the gunman in the hospital, but the season 8 finale might be the most horrifying ordeal yet: a plane crash.

At the end of the last episode we saw a number of doctors at Seattle Grace in a crashed plane. Now comes the aftermath.

In this opening scene from the episode, we get a look at the horrifying circumstances following the crash. After an opening shot that more than resembles the first scene of Lost, there are basically five people in trouble.

-Lexie is trapped in the rubble and is in serious danger.
-Derek's arm is trapped and he apparently crushes his hand with a rock to free himself. That can't be good for a surgeon.
-Arizona can see her bone, which is funny because she's married to an orthopedic surgeon.
-The pilot is paralyzed (and will soon be taken by the Black Smoke Monster).
-Cristina lost her shoe.

This video is not for the squeamish, so be warned. But it is intense and promises to start one of the show's best hours ever.



The Grey's Anatomy season 8 finale airs Thursday at 9pm on ABC.
