Project Runway All Stars
kicked off its sixth season last week with 16 designers-- eight of whom have previously competed on Project Runway All Stars
and eight of whom are part of Project Runway All Stars
for the first time. Alyssa Milano returned as host while both Georgina Chapman and Isaac Mizrahi resumed their roles as judges as well. Pitting the rookies against the veterans, the designers were tasked to create a fall or spring collection. The top looks came from rookies Edmond, Char and Merline, who ended up winning the challenge. The veterans had the losing collection with Ken, Casanova, and Helen at the bottom. Ultimately, Casanova was sent home.
This week, the 15 remaining designers had to create distressed fashion for a post-apocalyptic runway with Danielle Brooks, also known as Taystee on Orange is the New Black, serving as guest judge. The designs hit the runway and the judges loved the show. Anthony, Arie and Merline took the spotlight as they created the looks with the highest scores. Arie made a dress for a fire goddess, Merline created a futuristic 3-D piece and Anthony made a dress that caught fire, which Isaac described as "distressed and fresh as a daisy."
On the other hand, Char, Stanley and Kelly earned the lowest scores. Char wanted a hip fashionista firefighter vibe but instead it looked like it was "destroyed by a lawn mower." Stanley also made a burned dress, which the judges called "cheap" and "swampy." Kelly just had too much going on in her creation and Georgina hated the earphones.
In the end, Anthony won the post-apocalyptic challenge while Kelly was sent home.
