There won't just be all-out war on The Walking Dead
season 8. The cast of regular characters is going to get a little bigger. TVLine reports
that three members of The Walking Dead
cast have been promoted to series regulars for season 8. Steven Ogg, Katelyn Nacon and Pollyanna McIntosh, who play Simon, Enid and Jadis, respectively, will see upgraded roles in season 8.
The Walking Dead Won't Pass the Comics -- But Here's What It Might Do>>>>
If you don't recognize them from just their names, here's a little refresher course. Simon is Negan's right hand man who was most frequently seen terrorizing the community of Hilltop. Enid is Carl's crush / quasi-girlfriend who is currently living at Hilltop with Maggie. Jadis is, of course, the leader of the survivor group who lives in the garbage heap and betrayed Rick to work with the Saviors in the season finale.
Interestingly, the three series regulars fit quite easily into The Walking Dead season 8. Season 7 got rid of three major characters and series regulars with Steven Yuen (Glenn), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham) and Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha.) These new series regular will take over their spots and likely be seen just as much as those actors were in season 7 and earlier.
There are no solid story details with the news but some educated guesses can be made. This probably confirms that Jadis and her people will factor heavily into the season and won't just disappear after their betrayal in the season finale. Perhaps there will even be some Jadis-centric episodes that explain the leader's "unique" way of speaking.
With Ogg and Nacon's promotions it is pretty easy to guess what they mean. There will undoubtedly be a lot more Savior action and Hilltop storylines with them front and center in season 8. This is to be expected given that war has broken out but it is welcome to get confirmation.
Which of these promotions excites you the most? Which character do you want to see more of? Do you want to see more from any of these characters? What do these promotions mean for season 8 as a whole?
